Part Two. What People Want · Chapter 17. Selling with Feeling
Code of Honour
- Watch what a man does over years, not just what he tells you about himself.
- Recognition for good work is often worth more than a discount, and costs less.
- The dearest purchases are made for someone else’s eyes.
- Feeling without a check forgets yesterday’s loss every morning. A check without feeling can’t even pick a restaurant.
- Caught a seller on the figures, and he answers with an oath? Hear out the oath, send the sample to the lab.
- A decision that can’t be undone belongs to tomorrow.
- When a man makes a mistake, let him put it right; don’t shame him before witnesses.
- A worried man needs a number, not comfort.
- Anger named out loud loses its strength.
- Ask what a man was working so hard for, and let him finish.
- Nothing frightens like the picture a man finishes himself.
- A good deed done before forty witnesses lives in forty heads.
- If you frighten, show the way out at once.
- Take the music and the kittens out of the advert. If the table’s empty, you paid for the scenery, not the thing.
- A client lured away by a scent, not by the goods, can only be kept with a stronger scent.
